About Us

Brunton Park Scout Group comprises of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

Beavers:  6 to 8 years
Cubs:  8 to 10½ years
Scouts:  10½ to 14 years

Established in the 1950’s we have grown into 3 linked sections as above.

Originally we formed as the 1st Brunton Park as part of Northumberland, and then became the 42nd Newcastle when boundaries changed. In the mid 1960’s we were renamed 10th Gosforth before finally becoming ‘Brunton Park Scout Group’ in the year 2000. We are based in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne, and are situated near to Gosforth Park Race Course.

Over the years we have always had a steady intake of children enjoying quality activity programmes with a combination of long standing Leaders and new Leader/helper support. This, combined with recent new housing developments has increased the local interest to experience Scouting and so we are growing our Group and Sections to meet this demand by recruiting additional Leaders:

Young Leaders:  14 to 18 years
Adult Volunteers:  18+

We prepare young people with ‘skills for life’ and welcome both girls and boys. You can make new friends and learn about survival skills, first aid, cooking and even expedition skills that can lead on to Duke of Edinburgh Awards. It’s a great way to have fun, get outdoors, express your creativity and experience the wider world through challenges and adventures working in teams and individually. There’s something for every young person, and adults too as Leaders/Helpers, whatever their ability – we cover a huge range of activities including Group Camps to World Scout Jamborees.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
