Scouts (ages 10½ to 14)

Brunton Park Scout Troop meets on a Tuesday evening from 7:00 – 8:30 pm. Scouts is for all young people – boys and girls – aged between 10½ and 14½ years. Existing Cubs are able to join Scouts from 10 years and 3 months if they are ready and where they are working towards their Moving On Award. Scouts then move on to Explorers from the age of 14 and can become ‘Young Leaders’ too.

Our Scouts are offered a wide ranging and well balanced programme that challenges them, to work in groups/individually, helps them to find out about global issues, encourages them to know their own abilities and the importance of healthcare/keeping fit, and how to develop their own creative talents. It also provides opportunities to explore values and personal attitudes as well as developing important life skills such as leadership and teamwork.

Our focus is on the delivery of an outdoor based program as far as this is practical and we endeavour to deliver a program based on both traditional Scouting skills as well as adventurous activities, community work and personal challenges – Skills for Life.

We look at local issues, support local events and organisations. We nurture and encourage exploration of the wider world both through International Scouting and international issues.

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
